Saving myself from you.

Updated: May 18

I took a page from your favorite book, the one filled with whispers, with glances that shook.

You painted me dreams in a language unknown, but your words were hollow, and I was alone.

I carved my own grave just watching you move, you lifted me higher, then shattered the view.

Too many times, I handed you grace, but I’m only human I can’t be replaced.

No more echoes of you in the still of the night, no more chasing your shadow, losing my light.

I’ve gathered the pieces you left on the floor, once, I swore I would die for you

but I can’t take this pain anymore.

I thought I was willing, I thought I would break, but tonight, I saved myself for my own sake.

I don’t want to lose you, but I can’t pretend, this love was a battle that led to its end.

You never believed this moment would come, but I stood in the wreckage and swallowed the sun.

You tried to unravel the sanity in me, but love built on chains will never be free.

No more echoes of you in the still of the night, no more chasing your shadow, losing my light.

I’ve gathered the pieces you left on the floor, once, I swore I would die for you but I can’t take this pain anymore.

I thought it would kill me, but I made it through, tonight, I saved my life when I let go of you.
