I hope you’re okay

not the beautiful lie you wear for the world,

but the truth trembling beneath it.


Some days, “I’m fine”

is only a locked door

with sorrow breathing on the other side.


You don’t have to hide there alone.

I would rather you turn the key

and let me into the darkness
